The Cattle Have Arrived!

FullSizeRenderAbout 100 Cattle have arrived on the Moor for summer grazing. They are Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Belgian Blue, a mixture of heifers and bullocks, and are quite small – 4-5 months old. To begin with they will be confined to the North Lane end of the moor before being introduced to the main part of the Moor.

I wonder if there is any information regarding the health of the cattle on the moor at the moment? I understand that one died and the rest were then tested – but for what? There is no information on the notice board, which would be useful. Conversations with fellow dog walkers indicates that some dogs have had upset tums mine included. I found a dead hare in the week and apart from having had its eyes pecked out the only things feeding off it have been bluebottles – which strikes me as odd. Any information most gratefully received.

  2. Hello Kelly. Thanks for your comment, as we’ve not heard any other comments along these lines. We will see what we can find out about this and let you know.

  3. Hello again Kelly, I thought I’d let you know that one of our committee members has spoken to the stock man, and checked the cattle himself. There is no suggestion of health problems with the cattle currently, so all seems to be ok. Thanks for keeping us informed though and do let us know of any specific problems and we will do our best to sort it out.
